This book is the second fundamental work of Alfred T. Mahan devoted to the study of the influence of the sea power of a state on history. The concept he formulated played a huge role in the development of the theory of naval art and still continues to influence the development of military and geopolitical doctrines of the leading naval powers of the world.
The history of the revolutionary and Napoleonic wars served as material for the author’s research.< /p>
The first volume covers the period 1793–1802 and contains a detailed description of the events that unfolded at sea.
The second volume covers the period 1802–1812. It was at this time that Napoleon was closest to final victory over England, but the disaster at Trafalgar put an end to all his invasion plans.
