The time of action is the distant future. The main character is Sergei Sobolev, an employee of the xenobiology department. A young scientist and his four-legged friend, a telepathic Tasmanian wolf, constantly fly to the newly discovered planets of the galaxy. They work where intelligent life has been discovered and where serious difficulties arise.
