Robert Peary is a famous polar pioneer, who at the beginning of the 20th century. The American Congress and geographical societies of many countries called him the conqueror of the North Pole. Dmitry Shparo, citing little-known American documents, exposes Peary and claims that his main victories - the record of advancing north in 1906 and reaching the North Pole in 1909 - were made up. Piri deliberately took credit for non-existent merits. The book is, in essence, a geographical, psychological and political investigation of the tragic events in the Arctic, in which Peary participated, ready to do anything for the sake of his glory. The Piri myth was also exposed by other authors. Dmitry Shparo names them and speaks of them with great respect, but he himself is fundamentally different from other critics of Peary in that he walked thousands of kilometers on the drifting ice of the Arctic Ocean, making the first ski trip to the pole in history and other equally outstanding trips. The publishing layout of the book is saved in PDF A4 format.
