Freshman Sergei Kapustin, accepted as a trainee into one of these teams, having planned an escape from the powerful Master, turns out to be a prisoner of a lost soul. The enemy finds a sophisticated way to take advantage of the Adjuster’s talent even in the current disembodied reflection of Sergei’s personality, and the trainee, deprived of access to the Ring of Development, can do nothing to stop him. But the prisoner remained free with loyal friends, and his body, saved by his ally, survived, contrary to the Master’s aspirations...
