Fishing for the author is not a profession or even a hobby. This is an irresistible passion - a completely captivating love for the nature of our region, its flora and fauna. His outlook on life is positively active and essentially optimistic. This is noticeable even where he writes with sadness and bitterness about how “civilization” is dealing with Mother Nature, turning it more and more into the environment. The second part of the collection is diverse: we are talking about hunting hares, picking mushrooms and berries. The travel descriptions focus on the sights of Russian cities and localities, creations of nature and architects, and charming landscapes - mountains, rivers, lakes and islands. In the collection, meetings at the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War and meetings with veterans have a special resonance. This theme resonates with pain in the author’s heart: the loss of his father. These thoughts and feelings of the author found a response in the soul of the great Soviet writer and poet K.M. Simonov, to whom the author addressed a letter.
