“It’s interesting,” said Hermes, “what would happen if animals had a human mind.” “I’m willing to bet a year of service,” said Apollo, “that animals, having acquired a human mind, will become even more unhappy than people.” That’s where it all began. A bet in a bar between the gods Hermes and Apollo led to them granting human consciousness and language to fifteen dogs. Having received new abilities, the dogs lose their peace. Some try to ignore this gift, wanting to remain part of the dog pack, others accept change. The gods watch as the dogs try to explore the human world, as they mortally quarrel with each other, each struggling with new thoughts and feelings. Cunning Benji moves from house to house, the Prince becomes a poet, and Majnun establishes mutual understanding with a person at some deep level. So which of the gods will win the argument? And will at least one of the dogs who received an amazing gift be happy at the end of their lives?**Note: Andre is a first name, Alexis is a last name, but on the cover they are switched in places.
