Jorge Luis Borges is one of the most famous writers of the 20th century, who largely determined the shape of modern literature. Umberto Eco, in his essay on the influence of Borges, formulates the basic principle of the works of the great Argentinean: “Books talk to each other.” Borges himself wrote: “Some people are proud of every book they write, I’m proud of every book I read.” In numerous interviews, Borges called himself not so much a writer as an attentive, grateful reader. This publication includes two famous collections of Borges’s literary reflections: “Discussion” and “New Investigations” in their entirety, including texts that have never been published in Russian. Also, for the first time, four lectures by Borges on tango, given by him in 1965 in Buenos Aires, are published in Russian.
