The book is written based on the memoirs of a participant in the Great Patriotic War, who from its first days, by the will of fate, at the age of nineteen, encountered all the horrors of war, survived them and won. There are no fictitious events or battles here, they all happened in reality, and that’s why the story about them is valuable. The book uses archival materials and my father’s memories of the heroic defense of the 112th Infantry Division of the 22nd Army of the Western Front of the Latvian city of Kraslava in June-July 1941, as well as the fight against the Nazi invaders of the Shchors partisan detachment of the Polotsk-Lepel partisan formation that operated during the war on the territory of the Vitebsk region of Belarus.
