Astrobiologist Theo Byrne searches for life in deep space and, after the death of his wife, alone raises his nine-year-old son Robin, an unusual, smart boy who writes poetry and can spend hours drawing animals and plants in great detail. They also want to expel him from school because he beat his own friend. With each passing month, Robin's condition worsens, and then his father resorts to the latest treatment method - neural feedback. Robin begins to control himself by interacting with a model that is based on a pre-recorded image of his late mother's emotions, who had previously participated in the experiment. Meanwhile, the world around the Byrnes and throughout the Earth begins to collapse.
