The book includes memories of participants in the campaigns of Russian troops in the Kopet-Dag and Pamir mountains at the end of the 19th century. In his essays, A. A. Mayer talks about the assault and capture of Geok-Tepe in January 1881, and the events that preceded it. He devotes many pages to the “White General” - Mikhail Dmitrievich Skobelev. The memoirs are printed according to the 1886 edition. The essays and stories of B. L. Tageev tell about the history of the conquest of Central Asia, the treacherous policy of Great Britain in Afghanistan, and the military operations of Russian troops in the Pamirs in 1892–1893. “There is no barrier,” says the author, “that a Russian warrior would not cross.” Printed from the 1900 edition
