During and after the Caucasian War (1817-1864), the Russian Empire pursued an active policy of eviction of the Circassians, as a result of which an impressive Circassian diaspora was formed outside Russia, while only a handful of representatives of this people remained in their homeland. The Mamresh family flees from the soldiers to the mountains, leaving behind their native village, family and home. Hope remains only in an old family friend, to whom they head. However, things don't turn out as they expected.
