Otto is a war veteran. Having been recruited at the age of 10, he returns 25 years later to his native village and realizes that he has no place among peaceful people; in addition, the house and property of his late father have long belonged to other owners. Realizing this, he goes to the count's castle to personally ask His Serene Highness for land for raising livestock and a more or less peaceful existence among the inhabitants. As a result, the journey leads him to the valley - a pretty place between the river and black rocks on the northern border of the county. And here fate brings him together with the mysterious Vafthrudnir - a giant who carefully takes care of his beautiful gardens.
