Vladimir Chablis' biographical novel "The Stone" is based on the memoirs and documents of his father Chablis Peter Danilovich, as well as on the stories of relatives and acquaintances who, in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, went through the crucibles of Stalin's regime in the USSR repression, camps, collectivization, famine, industrialization, exile, wars, occupation, deception, denunciation and godlessness. The dramatic fate of the main character - Peter Chablis - shows an example of perseverance, humanity and faith in bright ideals even in unbearable and terrible conditions of total injustice. Despite the tragedy of the novel as a whole, about half of the chapters are “good” and describe the development of the main character. The life, joys, hardships and hardships of the people of that era, their irresistible desire for a better life and the bitterness of disappointments are described in artistic form.
