But she cannot be an empress: all power belongs to men, and the princess must submit to fate and become an exemplary wife... But is it possible to refuse the gift received with the blood of her ancestors? Is it possible to turn away from the path prepared by fate? And let betrayal and disappointment await Kyoko along this path. The heart of the dragon beats in her chest. From the author I laid the basis of this book a lot from Ancient Japan. You can recognize elements from different eras here: from Heian (more) to Edo (just a little). You will get to know the gods of Shintoism and a little Buddhism, and read old legends in a new version. But remember: Shinju is another country, in some ways similar to Japan, but still with a unique past, which became the reason for the discrepancies with the prototype.
