For the first time in Russian, the military memoirs of Roland de la Poipe (1920–2012) - fighter pilot, Hero of the Soviet Union, holder of the Military Cross and Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor. He was one of the first fifteen pilots of the Normandie squadron, a French air unit formed to fight jointly with Soviet forces on the Eastern Front and eventually grew into the legendary Normandy-Niemen fighter regiment.
