The book presents four article-reports prepared for the centenary of the birth of A.S. Pushkin in 1899 by prominent philologists and literary scholars, teachers of the Kyiv Imperial University of St. Vladimir, professors Pyotr Vladimirovich Vladimirov (1854–1902), Nikolai Pavlovich Dashkevich (1852–1908), private assistant professor Andrei Mitrofanovich Loboda (1871–1931). The articles, based on extensive material, trace the influence of Russian and Western European literature, reflected in the poetry of the great poet. It also examines the comprehensive influence of Pushkin’s poetry on the work of Russian poets and writers of the second half of the 19th century and the attitude of Russian criticism towards it from the 30s to the end of the 19th century.
