In such a military-political situation, a crowd of strangely outfitted boys arrived at the Dragon’s Tooth. They crawled out to our post in the second half of an August day, from the rocks, from the side of the regiment, they settled down and said that they would spend the night and move on in the morning. As always, they did not tell me what task they were performing. Subsequently, I never found out where fate at the front drove them; they did not go back through the Zub, so they could not tell me where they were and what they were doing.
