This book is the first most complete and devoid of pretentious extremes biography of the brilliant Russian pianist, composer and romantic thinker A. N. Scriabin. He surprised, delighted, frightened, irritated his contemporaries and forced them to worship his work. But, as the author of this study rightly believes, “only the life of works after the death of the one who brought them to this life gives the most accurate feeling: who the composer really was.” Therefore, the most interesting pages of the book are devoted to reflections on the music of A. N. Scriabin, the mystery of its aspiration to the future. The appendix contains the first fully published memoirs about A. N. Scriabin by the composer’s friend and philanthropist M. K. Morozova, as well as letters from A. N. Scriabin to his family.
