The book examines the time the author called the “long year of 1894” of the Russian Empire. This period begins in mid-January 1894, when, due to a serious illness, Alexander III could not receive ministerial reports and the heir, Tsarevich Nicholas, was instructed to familiarize himself with them, that is, for the first time to undertake this exclusively royal mission. The “long year of 1894” ends in the second half of January - the beginning of February 1895. In those days, after Nicholas II’s speech on January 17 in the Winter Palace before the deputations, his previously unclear ideological course was clearly defined. During this “long year” not only a change of supreme power took place, but other significant events also took place: Princess Alice of Hesse’s consent to marry the heir to the Tsarevich, their engagement, and after the accession to the throne of Nicholas II - marriage, the first personnel decisions of the new sovereign , attempts by the liberal public to influence him and return him to the guidelines of his grandfather, Emperor Alexander II. The book is intended for both specialists and a general readership. The publishing layout of the book is saved in PDF A4 format.
