Irish writer and journalist Maeve Binchy (1940–2012) is well known not only in her homeland, but throughout the world. Peru Binchy, in addition to short stories, owns 16 novels; her books have consistently become bestsellers and have received prestigious international awards more than once. In the 1970s, Binchy published three collections of short stories, and quite successfully, but her real fame came with the release of her first novel, Light a Candle (1982). Three years later, Binchy’s second novel, “The Echo of Other People’s Desires,” was published, which also met with a warm response from the reading public. By the sea, in the vicinity of the quiet Irish village of Castlebay, an echo hides in a cave. People believe that if you ask an echo a question, it will certainly answer. One day, two teenagers, David and Claire, come here. They have the same dream: to move away from their homes. Dreams Come True. Claire wins a scholarship to University College Dublin and moves to the capital. David also goes there, dreaming of becoming a doctor. Their paths will cross in the most unexpected way and... will lead them back to the gray desert of Castlebay, where once upon a time, against the backdrop of family secrets, gossip and tangled relationships, a drama of ambition, betrayal and love played out... For the first time in Russian!
