Rich journalistic experience allowed the German publicist and prose writer Tatyana Okomenyuk to accumulate many years of observations on the life of the Russian-speaking diaspora in Germany, turning them into a collection of short prose “Foreign Life”. With a fair amount of humor, the author talks about the difficult attempts of immigrants from the post-Soviet countries to fit into the pattern foreign lands. Some of them succeeded, some - not so much. Those who considered Germany a magical country with milk rivers and jelly banks were unlucky. Who confused emigration with tourism and, not getting what he wanted, became angry with everyone except himself. Using examples of the destinies of his characters, the author demonstrates to the reader that Germany is not a country of General Prosperity. That emigration is not a solution to problems at all, but rather moving them to another geographical point.
