Edvard Munch (1863–1944) is an outstanding Norwegian artist, known far beyond the borders of his homeland. He is familiar to the Russian public mainly from the films “The Scream”, “Madonna”, “The Sick Child” and “Girls on the Bridge”. He considered the true pinnacle of his creativity to be the symbolist series of paintings “Frieze of Life,” which he worked on for several decades. Munch is not only one of the most recognizable painters of his time, but also the author of unique texts: literary diaries, memoirs, an unfinished novel, and philosophical reflections about life and art, aphorisms and journalistic texts, as well as a huge number of letters corresponding to his wide circle of contacts. The book includes a selection of the most interesting and significant texts created by the artist during his life. Most of them are published in Russian for the first time. The publishing layout is saved in PDF A4 format.
