Nietzsche once wrote that if you gaze for a long time into the Abyss, then the Abyss, in turn, begins to peer into you. This short story offers a glimpse into the Abyss. Into the very Abyss from which Ghosts appear at night. They came to cleanse our cities of those whom they consider scum and cattle, racial scum and genetic garbage. You don't know who they are, you don't know their names. Having done their bloody deed, they dissolve into the Abyss to appear again. Appear unnoticed and silent. And dissolve again, leaving behind blood and death. This is not Nesterov. It's simpler, more down-to-earth, more ordinary. And that makes it even worse. Because it's bloodier.
