This two-volume edition is a commentary on the Gospel of Matthew, which is viewed from a historical and theological perspective. Taking first place in the New Testament corpus, it is the Gospel of Matthew, as a rule, that first introduces the reader to the events of earthly life, preaching, death on the cross and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The central theme of this study is the human history of the Savior, and not the presentation of Orthodox Christology - the teaching about Jesus as God and Man. At the same time, constant attention is paid to the theological content of the Gospel message and how the divine-human personality of Jesus is revealed through the Gospel text. The author shows the historical context of the events described, draws parallels with the other three Gospels, regularly refers to the interpretations of the Church Fathers and analyzes the opinions of modern researchers.
