The Polish uprising of 1794 was defeated. Tadeusz Kosciuszko, Jan Kiliński and other leaders of the uprising are taken to St. Petersburg. The final division of Poland between Russia, Prussia and Austria is inevitable, but the Poles do not lose heart: “Poland has not yet perished while we ourselves are alive.” Even when Poland disappears from the political map, the vanquished cherish the dream of the revival of the Fatherland. Only some had to emigrate, others went to Siberia, and still others joined the Polish legions, helping the French general Bonaparte conquer Northern Italy... This book is a continuation of the novel “The Polish Revolt,” previously published in the same series.
