The story “Mr. Veliky Novgorod” and the novel “Martha the Posadnitsa” are written by the famous modern writer D.M. Balashov. The story tells about the events of the 13th century, when in the Battle of Rakovor, Novgorod repelled the onslaught of German knights who were seeking revenge for the recent defeat on Lake Peipsi. The novel is dedicated to one of the most important events in Russian history - the annexation of Novgorod to the Grand Duchy of Moscow in the 15th century.
