Lawrence Kramer (born 1946) is an American musicologist and composer, professor at Fordham University (New York), a prominent figure in the New Musicology movement, which aimed to expand the field of music study through interdisciplinary studies of sound reality in all the diversity of its aspects and human interaction with it. The book The Sound of the World, published in English in 2019, summarizes Kramer's search in this direction, consolidating the expansion of the field of sound research with a new concept - auditory (audiable), which absorbs much more than sound, music, the audible, and illustrating its relevance with numerous examples from classical and modern music, literature, philosophy and other areas of culture. The publishing layout of the book is saved in PDF A4 format.
