Gábor T. Santo (b. 1966) is a famous Hungarian Jewish writer and editor-in-chief of the magazine Shabbat. Among his best works are the novel “Eastern Station, Terminus” and the collection of short stories “Camp Mikulash”, on the basis of which this book is based. Being a Jew in Central and Eastern Europe of the 20th century is a difficult, sometimes scary lot. It is not surprising that many, many, consciously or subconsciously, strive to assimilate, to completely dissolve in the “titular nation”. It is much more surprising when some force (genes? the call of blood? the spirit of a great ancient culture? human dignity? - here one can guess and argue for a long time) still forces them, like the heroes of this book, to return to Judaism - their true essence. p>
