The book presents a broad historical panorama of understanding and research into the sense of movement. This complex and complex feeling is called the “dark” (I.M. Sechenov) or “sixth” sense and is associated with intuition. It plays a central role in the functioning of the senses and in the regulation of posture and movement. Psychologists and physiologists call it “kinesthesia,” “proprioception,” and, less commonly, “haptic sense.” The author introduces readers to the history of these concepts, to those philosophical discussions and scientific experiments that in the 19th and 20th centuries led to the creation of the psychophysiology of the sense of movement. The final chapters explore cultural, psychological, and phenomenological studies of walking, climbing, and dance, as well as contemporary perspectives on movement's connections to cognition, health, and creativity. The publisher's layout is preserved in PDF A4 format.
