For the first time, a book by Colonel General Paul Hausser, one of the founders of the SS troops, who took part in shaping the worldview and ideology of the Third Reich Guard, is being published in Russian. His book, written with the directness of an old officer, partly naive and even touching in this naivety, will be very interesting for the reader. This is a different view of the SS troops, not the one we are used to. A guards general's view of the black-uniformed regiments, which had gone through a long front-line path and especially “distinguished themselves” in battles in the eastern theater of military operations. For Hausser, everything said in these pages is true. That is why he calls: “Let’s bury all our hidden anger along the way. History will judge more fairly than our contemporaries blinded by rage.”
