Dmitry Bavilsky's book, dedicated to travel, is made up of essays and stories written in the 21st century. The first section of the collection includes “travel texts”, where at first glance nothing happens. But St. Petersburg, Tel Aviv, Alma-Ata, and Burgundy turn out to be a framework for living both the happiest and the most ordinary days of one, separate life. The second cycle of the collection is dedicated to trips to the strange and at the same time ordinary Ural city of Cherdachinsk, where the author grew up and from which he once left. In the third part of the book, D. Bavilsky “reveals the technique”, describing travelogues of different eras and traditions (from N. Karamzin and I.-W. Goethe to E. Giber and A. Bitov), which for most people replace visiting exotic countries and cities. Reading is also a journey and sometimes a serious intellectual adventure.
