The novel “Orange of the Lost Sun” by the famous prose writer and professional journalist Ashot Beglaryan is not only about the Great Patriotic War, in which the author’s paternal grandfather Santur Jalalovich Beglaryan participated and, alas, disappeared. The author himself survived three wars unleashed at the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries against his homeland - Nagorno-Karabakh, fighting for its rightful place in the sun. Ashot Beglaryan, with deep philosophy and subtle psychologism, reflects on the problems of war and peace on a planetary scale and, in particular, in the troubled Transcaucasian region. Creating vivid and complete images, the author shows, using specific real examples, how, because of the war, the simplest human dreams remain unfulfilled and how “it is difficult to ensure that children believe in a sunny fairy tale with a happy ending, which, quite reasonably from the child’s point of view, they imagine life to be.” . As a result, the writer comes to the conclusion that human “truth”, having moved away from God’s beauty, from Truth, loses the sunlight in itself and is very often realized in ugliness, one of the extreme embodiments of which is war. The rather complex title of the novel could not be more accurate reflects the author’s difficult thoughts about the war and peace of his native land in different periods of time, about the problems that are relevant today for all “hot spots” in different parts of the world. “The thick smoke of war obscures the blue sky, sending lifeless darkness to the earth, and to to prevent the latter from completely swallowing the sun, people have to pluck from the daylight and hide in their chests orange, orange-like clumps of light, fueling the holy hope for the return of peaceful times, when it will again be possible to piece together the big sun...” - the author philosophically summarizes .And this should become a warning to all humanity. After all, we risk losing our Sun forever... The novel used fragments of poems by the famous Karabakh poet Ernest Beglaryan, who became the prototype of Erik Bagumyan. When describing some scenes of the Great Patriotic War, the memories of a WWII veteran from Nagorno-Karabakh Alexander Suleymanyan were used. When creating the cover, the work of Hayk Saadyan was used. Illustration by him.
