Its pages summarize all currently existing versions of the exodus of the Israelite tribes from Egypt, including historical works, Bible studies, and Jewish sources almost unknown to the general reader. Following the historian P. Johnson, who believed that “to invent the figure of Moses is a task beyond the strength of the human mind,” the author treats his hero as a real person and a true leader of the nation.
