The book contains the memoirs of the outstanding scientist and museum figure Yuri Aleksandrovich Olsufiev (1878–1937). Written in 1921–1922, they are dedicated to the Buytsy estate of the Epifansky district of the Tula province, where Yu. A. Olsufiev and his wife, Countess Sofia Vladimirovna, née Glebova, spent happy years from 1902 to 1917. In the memories, dozens of people pass through in a long line, with with which life confronted the author from the moment of his birth until the February Revolution of 1917. The description of ancestral items is placed in direct connection with specific historical figures, relatives and acquaintances, which explains the unique atmosphere of these memories. Added to the main text are the author’s notebooks under the general title “Communications” for 1913–1937, memories of Yu. A. Olsufiev, lists of his published and unpublished works and an annotated index of names. The publication is illustrated with rare archival photographs.
