The book by the famous art historian, art critic and prose writer Vera Tchaikovskaya is dedicated to the great Russian romantic artist Orest Kiprensky. Since 2000, not a single serious work has been written about this representative of the “golden age” of Russian art. Meanwhile, his biography and work are surrounded by many unresolved questions, defined by the author of the book as some “hoaxes that arose equally due to the lack of reliable information and the artist’s own peculiar “myth-making”. In addition, the author is also interested in the modern assessment of his contribution to domestic and world culture.
