In the new book by B.M. Kirikov examines the history of the development of the “golden triangle of St. Petersburg”, bounded on three sides by the Moika River, the Griboyedov Canal and Nevsky Prospekt. The blocks on the sides of Bolshaya and Malaya Konyushennaya streets form a unique part of the historical center of the Northern capital. The town-planning formation of this area was associated primarily with the Court Stable Yard, built back in the time of Peter the Great. Following him, parishes of several Lutheran and Reformed churches settled here. Thus, the character of Konyushenny Streets clearly reveals the special way of life of the imperial capital - a multinational and multi-religious city... The author talks about all the buildings and structures in this part of the city. The formation of the layout, the chronicle of construction and reconstruction are supplemented with brief information about the architects. But the central place is occupied by “portraits” of architectural objects, revealing the typical and individual features of each of them. For completeness, not only the external appearance of the buildings is described, but also the courtyard spaces, and, where possible, the interiors. If the reader, following the author, walks through Konyushenny, he will undoubtedly receive a lot of varied impressions.
