During clinical contact between a psychiatrist and a malingerer, the medical diagnostic paradigm interacts with the conscious, purposeful and individual embodiment of ideas about mental illness. During the diagnostic procedure, the doctor sees his goal as placing the observed symptoms in a classification hierarchy, localizing the signs presented by the patient in the range of known pathological phenomena. The task of the malingerer, therefore, is to most fully and reliably recreate those behavioral features that, in his subjective vision, are within the anomalous spectrum. The subject of this article is the collision, mutual perception and understanding of clinical and naive views on mental health, characteristic of the medical context of simulation illness.
