Under the pen of the outstanding writer Vasily Makarovich Shukshin (1929–1974), a whole gallery of images of Russian character comes to life. The heroes of his works are strange, unlucky people, eccentrics, dreamers-sages, alive and natural, sometimes spontaneously rebellious. It is in this protest that the author sees a manifestation of spirituality, but does not idealize his heroes. This publication is the most complete collection of the author’s stories and a collection of film stories. Film stories by V. Shukshin, in addition to the works already known to a wide reader: “There Lives Such a Guy”, “Call Me in the bright distance...", "My brother...", "Stoves-benches" and "Kalina Krasnaya" include previously unpublished scripts: "Your son and brother", "Strange people" and "I came to give you freedom."
