Thorstein Veblen's book “Engineers and the Price System” (1921) shows his view of the situation during the period of industrial expansion. The world in this era was changing rapidly, and so were the people living in it. A new picture of the world was created by revolutions, crises and the development of technology. Veblen's approach was relevant for his time, but in his forecasts the economist relied only on the prospects of industry, practically without considering the information revolution. A special place in the book is given to Soviet Russia and its role in the future of civilized humanity. In general, Veblen was one of the first to try to outline the concept of building a technocratic state. The book is intended for students and teachers of economic universities, as well as a wide range of readers interested in political economy.
