The monograph examines a complex of problems of representation of the highest political power in medieval France over a long period of time, relevant for modern historical science: from the late Carolingian period to the end of the Hundred Years War. The study is based on the analysis of various sources (coronation ordines, legislative documents and legislative material, legal, political, historical and theological treatises, registers and inventories of abbeys), including the protocols of the inaugural ceremonies of the French monarchy, thanks to the involvement of which it was possible to consider the results of the implementation of its public legal function. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of symbols and images of power, as well as the formation and development of the royal cult, the experience of understanding its sacred nature until the advent of the era of absolutism, matrimonial strategies and the transformation of the French model outside the kingdom.
