The book is dedicated to the history of the political elite of the Kingdom of Epirus, one of the three Greek states that fought to restore the Byzantine Empire in 1205-1261. The system of distribution of power within the ruling dynasty of Duk, the composition and functions of the sovereign’s confidants are examined, and the importance of family and friendly ties as factors in the consolidation of the aristocracy and clergy is considered. Special attention is paid to the formation of the ideology of the Epirus kingdom and its reception by representatives of the political elite.
