The series of stories dedicated to intelligence officer Sherekhov is humorous prose dedicated to the inner life of our Russian counterintelligence officers. At the same time, the author managed to create an image of a hero who embodied the features of a whole galaxy of truly popular heroes of our literature, and, what is most curious, while remaining himself. Scout Sherekhov is Shtrilitz, Bender, Munchausen, and even Chonkin rolled into one. Sherekhov is our more than worthy answer to the dull English James Bond. Sherekhov's adventures are fascinating and funny, and besides, in accordance with the genre, they are invariably successful for the hero. For all the curiosity of Sherekhov’s adventures, Naumov, in my opinion, managed not only to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the topic he was describing, which he, as they say, knows from the inside, but to talk about his hero with great warmth and sympathy. Undoubtedly, the author’s brilliant humor will also delight the reader sketches “From a letter from a patient at a psychoneurological dispensary” and “Insomnia on a Midsummer Night”.
