Sven Anders Hedin (Hedin) (1865–1952) is a famous Swedish traveler, geographer, journalist, writer, graphic artist, public figure, the most famous Swede, whose existence was forgotten after World War II. He made a number of outstanding expeditions to Tibet, China and Central Asia, was the first to describe many historical monuments and landscapes, eliminated dozens of “blank spots” on the world map, and was generally the first European in these places.
