Throughout the twentieth century, Africa was engulfed in incessant wars: first between colonial powers for dominance over its wealth, then between colonialists and national liberation movements, and then between new political forces in already independent states. Circumstances and political regimes changed. Colonizers changed, came and went, local dictators, leaders, even emperors took the place of the colonialists. Only one thing did not change - the war. New generations grew up in the ashes, only to go on the warpath again and again. Will this never end? Will the “warring continent” never know peace?
