The collection presents works by the outstanding writer Friedrich Gorenstein (1932–2002), dedicated to Israel and the fate of this state. Previously unpublished journalistic essays and a treatise-pamphlet in Russia testify to Gorenshtein’s deep knowledge of the topic and brilliant gift as a polemicist. The book ends with a synopsis of the script “Jewish Stories Told in Israeli Restaurants”, in the finale of which the writer hopefully states: “There was, is and will be over the roof of a Jewish house a messenger of God, a Guardian Angel, especially now not under someone else’s, but under his own, music will be playing nearby, on the roof, free laughter will be heard..."
