The relevance of studying revolutionary processes in various countries in the modern era is beyond doubt. Studying the ideological origins and essence of revolutionary processes allows us to better understand the patterns of their emergence and development, their impact on the modern world. For the first time in Russian American studies, the monograph attempts to trace the connections between the ideas of the Enlightenment, American revolutions and reforms in the 18th–19th centuries. Using the latest methodological approaches (comparative studies, imagology, content analysis, discourse analysis, interdisciplinary and sociocultural approaches), based on a wide range of educational literature and a wide variety of sources, the authors analyzed the process of reception and transformation of the educational episteme in the conditions of the formation of a new American state, further development revolutionary process, which included the era of two American revolutions. Such subjects as the reception of educational ideas in the North American colonies, their reflection and refraction in American constitutionalism are considered. Separate chapters are devoted to the influence of Enlightenment ideology in the 19th century, paradigm shifts and the perception of the main concepts of the Enlightenment in liberalism in a variety of aspects (Jacksonian democracy, reform movements, the problem of freedom, democracy and human rights and the fight against corruption in the era of the Civil War and Reconstruction).
