This book (volume 1) is a scientific publication of the first volume of the three-volume edition of “Lamentations of the Northern Territory” (Part I: “Funeral Laments, Tombstones and Gravestones.” - M., 1872), recorded by a famous folklorist, collector and publisher works of folk art by Elpidifor Vasilyevich Barsov (1836-1917). “Funeral lamentations” (“Lamentations”) were recorded from the most talented Russian storyteller Irina Andreevna Fedosova (1827-1899) and represent one of the classic collections that have gone down in the history of Russian and European folklore.
