The “Samizdat Anthology” reveals to readers that part of our past that has never been the property of official history. Nevertheless, in the environment of unofficial culture, the product of which Samizdat was, ideas crystallized that had a tremendous impact on the course of history, primarily Soviet and post-Soviet. The origins of modern ideologies and the modern political system of Russia are almost unknown to the younger generation. The “Anthology of Samizdat” allows us to largely fill this gap. The “Anthology” contains the most representative works that circulated in Samizdat in the 50s - 80s, which influenced the mindset of the Soviet intelligentsia. The collection presents a wide genre and ideological spectrum, best showing the diversity of uncensored culture. In addition, the Anthology gives an idea of the emergence of independent social movements in the USSR.
