Philadelphia, 1918. The townspeople loudly honor American soldiers fighting on the fronts of the First World War, but young Pia Lange is haunted by the feeling of an inevitably approaching catastrophe. The girl has long noticed that she can predict serious illnesses, and now she sees death everywhere. Pia is not mistaken: soon the streets of American cities will be empty, and the corpses of the dead will fill the morgues - the Spanish flu, the most massive influenza epidemic in the history of mankind, is preparing to reap its terrible harvest...
