The famous queen of France and Navarre, who lived during the bloody time of the Wars of Religion, left behind memoirs that are both a valuable historical document and a fascinating literary work that brings real pleasure to reading. One cannot ignore her significant epistolary legacy, showing the sophisticated but deadly world of the French royal court and big politics, where pen, poison and dagger together determined the future of France. These works reveal to us an intelligent, sophisticated and passionate lady of the Renaissance, in whose life love and friendship were inseparable from political conflicts.
